How Much Does a Video Cost?
The number one question we hear from people is "how much does an video cost?" As with many things, the answer is: 'it depends.' For a typical one minute video it ranges from about $2,500 to $25,000. Yes, it's quite a wide spread and depends on many factors such as art style, scope, and production method. If you have a budget in mind, let us know and we'll able to let you know as soon as possible.
Phase 1: Research and scripting
A well-written script is the foundation of a great video. But it takes time for writers to fully understand your company, product, or service and synthesize it into 150 words. The temptation to go beyond 60 seconds is a strong one, and it can take many iterations for all parties to agree to the content and scope.
Phase 2: Creative Direction
What style will best represent your company or product? Do art assets already exist or need to be created? Will it be photos, line drawings, 3D models, or illustrations? Does the animation require complex movements or just simple transitions? Do multiple approaches need to be explored? Will music be required? The answers to these questions can have a large effect on the overall project cost.
Phase 3: Storyboarding
With a final script and style in place, the illustrator assembles a static scene-by-scene representation of the video. Paying attention to the storyboard process pays dividends in reduced iterations later in the project.
Phase 4: Voiceover
We have one of our professional voice artists read the script, we can arrange a conference call so you can listen in and provide any insight as to particular words needing emphasis or tone. On some occasions we may have multiple voice artists do a reading.
Phase 5: Animation
The most time consuming and work-intensive part of the process is the animation. At this point, an animator is taking the illustrations and voiceover, and assembling them into a cohesive show. Typically we will do a motion check early in the process, then several review cycles to finalize.
Phase 6: Final Production
Last but not least, any sound effects, text content, interactive elements are integrated into the video, and the final output is created in the appropriate format or formats for TV, web, or mobile usage.
So there you have it. If it seems like a lot of work, it is. And that doesn't even include the many hours of meetings, calls, emails, revisions, renderings, uploads, and more. Chances are good we can tailor a video project to your timeframe, budget, and communication needs. Let's get started.
